First Blog: Obsessions and Walls of Hatred

I have decided to start blogging to expand and vary the content of my website. Once this project to going in earnest, I will try to be consistent in posting.

I am likely to focus initially on unwanted, repulsive obsessional OCD. Tormenting obsessions is, in my opinion, one of the most under-treated OCD subtypes, given the reluctance of suffers to come forward. This reluctance, of course, is driven by the shame and moral stigma attached to the content of these obsessions. Moreover, unwanted obsessional narratives typically are complex and elaborate in ways rarely seen in other subtypes. Nonetheless, the sad paradox of repugnant obsessions is that once in treatment people with repugnant obsessions improve dramatically. It is just the coming forward part that is so hard..........

The banner image is from a mural in Berlin depicting the flight of humanity out of East Berlin when their wall came down. In this post-truth, surreal America of 2017, hijacked by those committed to building walls of hatred-that serve as a smoke screen for their manipulations-the image of the breaking down of walls captures my reaction to this nightmare.
